Stipendium für GeflüchteteTraffic chaos

Muschirfs roomMy first month in Munich is already starting hectically. I got my room in the dorm at the beginning of the month and moved in immediately. And before I got used to the opening hours of the shops here, cleaned my room, unpacked the moving boxes and got to know my roommates, the first week at the university started. Somehow I was not born for big cities.

I must have get lost three times before I knew where the subway stop was. Then it's time to start learning how they drive at all. Everywhere there are graphics and traffic plans that are designed so that all people - old, young, foreigners, students etc. - understand them and they do... And so do I!

Nevertheless, I got lost a few times until I managed to arrive at university on time without looking at a plan.

Stipendium für GeflüchteteThe first day at university

universityt’s the first day at university. The students of the first year gather in the large foyer of the university. We greet each other and wait until someone finally notices us. You may think that the whole university knows about our first day, but that's not true. Because two students - apparently from another year - come up to me and one of them asks me curiously: "Who are you? I say: "We're starting this year." He turns to his buddy and asks in surprise: "Has it already been a year? Wow! It felt like a couple of weeks!" But fortunately, the professors and all employees already know about us. A voice says: "Here we go! Everyone to the big cinema, please." And within a few minutes we all sit in the back seats of the big cinema.

Stipendium für GeflüchteteFrom the big screen to university

at the universityAfter a nice, humorous introductory talk from the moderator, who is also a professor, the professors from all chairs and departments came and introduced themselves and congratulated us on accepting the course. The professors are almost as many as the students and are all well experienced. You don't necessarily know them all by name, but you've definitely seen their work on the big screen before.

Never in my life have I gossiped so much. After long performance hours and congratulations, they showed us around the HFF Munich and we got to know all the important rooms and areas. Editing suites, machine room, sound mixing, studios, color grading and much more. At some point I switched off my head and walked through the house with my mouth wide open. The day ended with an invitation for a drink by all the professors. We also deserved it, because we have to shoot a film exercise in two days.
