One of the things that keeps me busy during the Corona pandemic is photographing different things. Photography is one of my hobbies, which helps me to spend my time in the nature and makes me aware that beauty is everywhere. Nowadays anyone can take a photo and make a collection of his or her work, only using a cell phone.
I realized that neither having no DSLR camera of the best quality nor having no equipment can stop us from being creative. I started to spend most of my spare time improving my skills. I have worked hard and took a lot of pictures in a month. I spent countless hours searching the Internet for tutorials on Photoshop and photography. After that I went out and used the newly learned lessons at my shootings. In this way I became better and better. I then realized that this was only the beginning. It was really humiliating to see, how much work I put in, but how far I still have to go. In my opinion, photography is more than just photographing, it is a never-ending process of self-discovery, achievements and failures. Nowadays almost everything about photography is accessible via social media. It just takes a little courage and interest to learn more about it.
After a year of hard work, I realized that there isn’t something like an overnight success. To be great, you just have to put in the work and keep trying consistently. After people noticed some of my work, I received an invitation to work on different kinds of events, which made me very happy. So my hobby, which I have loved all my life, then became my job. One of the last jobs I did was on 22 February 2020, on the wedding day of a friend. This was a great responsibility and also a great opportunity to show my skills and to promote my work.
To summarize my photographic journey I have thought up some lessons. The first one is just to keep on photographing. I discovered that the more I take pictures and the more I fail, the more I learn. Ever since I started taking pictures, I've been looking for bringing my art to life. When I take photographs or create art, I am myself and I don't have the feeling that I am missing something.
In the past month it has been kind of difficult for all of us to do the things we love, but I hope the best is yet to come.
