Many universities in Germany offer so-called summer courses during the semester break. In these courses you learn or improve your German language skills. In addition, German regional studies is often part of the course curriculum. Many summer courses also include interesting excursions and day trips. And the best part of summer courses: you get to know many different people from all over the world
The prerequisites for participation vary from university to university. You usually have to pay for summer courses and register by a certain date. For example, summer courses at the University of Bonn cost about €775, not including accommodation and meals.
If you are not able to finance the usually high fees for summer courses yourself, there is the possibility to apply to DAAD (German Academic Exchange Services) for a university summer course scholarship. In some cases there is also the possibility of of receiving financial support through university support programs.
