Guten Tag!
My name is Adam Ashraf and I am 20 years old. I live in a small, coastal town called Dungarvan located in County Waterford in the Southeast of the 'Emerald Isle' Ireland. I am studying Primary Education in Mary Immaculate College Limerick, which I absolutely love!
As part of my university experience, I have been accepted to study for the winter term of the academic year 2023-24 at the University of Education Salzburg Stefan Zweig. I am really excited about coming to Austria to study. I’m sure it will be such an amazing and memorable experience. I look forward to developing my knowledge about primary education, but this time from an Austrian perspective! I also really look forward to practicing speaking some German. I have been learning some German at university in Ireland and I look forward to putting it into practice.
I have never travelled to Austria before which makes the adventure even more appealing. I have been told that the snow at Christmas time is beautiful, so I am really looking forward to seeing it for myself! I am excited about spending some time within Austrian culture along with exploring different places within Salzburg and the country.
I think I am best suited for the Care Concept Welcome to Austria Scholarship because I identify myself with the important values of honesty, helpfulness and tolerance and I try to live by them each day. The scholarship would help me hugely towards some of the expenses while over in Salzburg. I am enthusiastic about studying at the University of Education Salzburg and I would be incredibly grateful for the financial support on my journey. It would also be amazing to share my many experiences over in Austria with you each month. Dankeschön.

Alek's letter of motivation

I would like to express my interest in applying for the Care Concept “Welcome to Austria” Scholarship. Being able to study in Austria has been the most important blessing I have received so far. Not everyone is able to receive this wonderful opportunity.
Austria has deepened my understanding of various people from diverse backgrounds. Vienna is not only the music capital of the world but also a cultural and historical city. Austria has opened many possibilities for me both personally and professionally. My first year as a classical piano student in the preparatory program at the Friedrich Gulda School of Music Wien enabled me to build friendships, enhanced my skills as an aspiring classical pianist, and improved my confidence in public performances. I was given several chances to work with other musicians and contribute to wonderful performances such as in small and choral ensembles. My music teachers are brilliant and inspiring.
I also have very wonderful flat mates and friends outside the school from various countries who are very much passionate with what they do. It is my view that the social benefits of music are enormous not just for us who are studying to be musicians but also to those in the communities.
Music showcases different cultures and promote greater respect for cultural differences similar to what I have experienced while in Austria. By studying music in Vienna and experiencing Austria as a whole, my worldview and perspectives have broadened. I realized that academic excellence and communication skills are not enough to succeed as individuals in this world. Every one of us can be motivated through music to work hard, be determined, and have a positive mindset. That collaboration, willingness to help others, and inclusivity are also important aspects of music education which we can use to improve societal conditions.
These are the valuable aspects of music that I also want to impart to others here in Austria and beyond through the Care Concept “Welcome to Austria” Scholarship. As we all know, studying in another country like Austria requires a huge amount of money, and financial restriction is one of the most pressing issues for overseas students like me.
Since birth, I have been supported by my single mom who has been supportive of my academic goals despite her limited resources. Therefore, being a recipient of the Care Concept Austria Scholarship will certainly enable me to help my mom reduce her financial worries while I am pursuing music education.
I am thankful that Care Concept provides international students like me who have some financial limitations this opportunity which will allow me to concentrate better in my studies, make the most of my chances to further my career and goals, and contribute to society.
