Ladies and Gentlemen,
My name is Anna-Sophia Stefan and I am currently in my seventh semester of studying primary education at the University of Salzburg. My goal is to gain as much intercultural experience as possible for my future profession as a teacher. As this plays a central role for me personally, especially in the teaching profession, in order to do justice to my future pupils in the best possible way. In order to gain this experience during my Bachelor's degree and to consolidate my Italian language skills, I will spend the coming summer semester 2021 at the Università degli Studi Suor Orsola Benincasa in Naples.
The decisive factor for my choice of university and country was my already positive associations with Italy in general. In particular, however, with the diverse culture of the country and, of course, the language. Furthermore, Naples is still unknown to me and I am ready for a new challenge and adventure. For this reason, I would love to get to know the city and its culture. Already in high school I had chosen to study Latin and Italian. So I already have some basic knowledge of the language. I would like to deepen these during my semester abroad and improve my language skills.
Especially since Italy is our neighbouring country, I think this makes a lot of sense for my future. Our Erasmus coordinator made me aware of your scholarships. After exploring your website and scholarship programmes in detail, I would very much like to apply for the World Scholarship. The main reason for this is that although a semester abroad is definitely enriching, it is also associated with high costs. In Naples, I will of course have to rent a student room, pay for a plane ticket, visit museums, enjoy delicious food and I will of course also need good health insurance. Especially in the current Covid situation, this seems extremely important to me. This is one of the main reasons for me to apply for your scholarship.
Of course, I would also like to spend half a year not worrying so much about money, but enjoying my semester abroad to the fullest. After all, you only have an experience like this once in a lifetime. For this reason, I want to experience the best possible and feel free. I want to grow beyond myself and become a better version of myself. With the 300 Euro scholarship, I am sure that I will be able to do this even better.

Dear Sir/Madam, This letter is written to apply for the Care Concept World-Scholarship.
I am a fourth-semester MA student at the Freie Universität Berlin. My study focuses on US foreign policy, welfare policy, international migration, and refugee crisis-related topics. This semester, I am studying abroad at Science Po Toulouse in International Relations. In this letter, I will introduce my background and experience. Hope I can be taken into your consideration. I hold nationalities of British National (Overseas) and Hong Kong and have lived in 5 countries. I am a speaker of Cantonese, English, Chinese, German (B1), Modern Greek (A2), French (A1), and Korean (A1). I hold a BA also from FU Berlin. I have been active in academic, business, and humanitarian works. I worked at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Koç University (Turkey).
In 2020, I represented Europauem (Oxford) to speak at the International Meeting in Political Studies alongside high-ranked government officials, diplomats, and academics such as José Manuel Barroso, former President of the European Commission and former PM of Portugal. I am a member of the Association for the Promotion of Political Economy and the Law and the Young Scholars Initiative. Representing the two organizations, I contributed to a legal-economic study on COVID- 19 responses. We created an interactive map showing the activities taken by different economies during the pandemic.
In the business sectors, I worked at a firm under the Jardine Schindler Group, which holds the largest lift market share in Asia. I am a member of the Global Leadership Challenge, a network of 100 young leaders selected by Oxford University’s The Oxford Character Project, Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund, and St Gallen Symposium. I am developing a startup hoping to channel COVID-19 vaccines for refugees at Moria Refugee Camp with 5 young leaders. We are in touch with the Greek Health Agency, NGOs and are receiving supports from Salesforce.com, Inc. I was awarded third place at a law and investment competition at the EU-Russia Student Conference of Moscow School of Management and was a delegate to the South American Business Forum in Argentina. I have been very active in learning from many international events such as the Asia-Pacific Business Forum and the Kazakhstan-German Business Forum. For humanitarian works, I taught students in Cambodia.
I also volunteered at Moria Refugee Camp with Eurorelief. I helped with necessities distribution, security, organization, and more. I am a mentor for a Syrian refugee student through a buddy program. And I was awarded for voluntary works from the HK Government. I hope my study abroad in France would equip me with the network, experience, and training in international affairs from a new perspective. I sincerely look forward to hearing from you. I had a lot planned for my last year of study. After 4 years of studying, I wanted to finish my last exams, use my accumulated lab experience in my master's thesis and travel for a few weeks after graduation.
Like for everyone, Corona threw a spanner in the works; my exams were cancelled, my Master's thesis was postponed and later changed into a theoretical computer thesis, and I spent the last year completely in my room instead of in the lab and travelling. But even though everything turned out differently than planned, the postponed exams offered a new opportunity, because it allowed me to stay enrolled for another semester. So instead of just travelling for a few weeks, I had the idea of embarking on a bigger adventure after my Master's thesis; an internship abroad.
Where to go for was immediately clear to me. As a half-Israeli, I have wanted to spend more than one holiday in my second home country for as long as I can remember, to improve my language skills, to travel to the corners of the country I never made it to, but above all to strengthen my own connection to the culture. The ideal place to gain valuable work experience in my field of study, biochemistry, was the Weizmann Institute, which is a 30-minute bus ride from the metropolis of Tel Aviv and is known for excellent research. A lot of research, emails and zoom meetings later, I had organised an internship for April to September this year.
In addition to my studies, I have been involved in social media for a few years now and have a lot of fun doing so. As a working student for the International Office at my university, I was responsible for posting travel stories of students abroad on our Facebook page.
I have also been responsible for our social media channels and blog as the press spokesperson for the German Young Researchers Network for 2 years, helping the association to connect young researchers and get students excited about science. During my participation in the student competition "iGEM", I accompanied our work in and outside the lab as a member of the Munich team, including our trip to the finals in Boston. Social media is a great way to share your projects with other people, to network and motivate each other, whether for travelling, research or other activities.
My social media experience makes me very suitable for the World Fellowship and I would be happy to give many people an insight into the rich culture, cuisine and nature of Tel Aviv and the surrounding area, not only from a tourist point of view, but also authentically through the perspective of locals through my family.
