In 2019, Berlin celebrates the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall with events and exhibitions dealing with its construction, the division of Berlin, the Cold War and the Peaceful Revolution of 1989. Although 9.11.2019 was a typical November rainy day, people (not only Germans) gathered together at Brandenburg Tor to share the happiness of freedom with each other and of course with Berlin. It is nice to see, that people from everywhere despite bad weather, have a common reason to come out and celebrate.
These days, I was quite busy with studying and researching. Three weeks ago, we started E-learning with university, which means we stay home and study online and we are free to chat with our lecturers and classmates about each day topic.
We have non-German speaking lecturers recently; from Sweden, UK, Croatia; which I think completely fit to this international major and beneficial for us to get the wider perspective about social working around the world.
It was a new experience for me and also my colleagues, but I cannot deny the fact, how I enjoyed studying this way. It is much practical and also time-saving for me. I could easily manage three or four hours studying each day and also do my daily life and sport.
It does not matter in which district are you living in Berlin; east or west. You will always find your favorite gym close to you. Also, Berlin is full of parks and green places, which gives me the opportunity to enjoy my take-away coffee (not more than 2 euros!),while I am walking through beautiful Berlin in fall. Rock-climbing is one of the most favorite sports in Berlin among young people.
Nowadays, I spend couple of hours each weekend in one indoor climbing salon, close to my place. Not only I am doing my enjoyable sport, but also meeting professional climbers, who sometimes help me with their tips.
However, books’ price in Berlin is not the cheapest one, but I can get all my resources at libraries, which are all free-access for everybody. I have spent most of my times recently at GIHR (The German Institute of Human Rights), which made me sure and confident again, that I am the right place and right moment to study this subject. GIHR’s library helped me a lot with my necessary resources, in order to prepare myself for the online exam.
But of course beside studying, I enjoy spending time with my classmates. Sometimes we just stay at University and enjoy cheap coffee and food after the lectures. But of course we are much more active than that :). The “studierendenWERK” in Berlin is an organization, which provides different services for the students of the Berlin universities. They support students in various fields, such as housing, student jobs and traning, daycare, counselling and also some cultural events. This month my classmates participated in a cultural competition in music and performance. We all happily celebrated their win (1000 euro) together. This City has eyes, keeps all of us awake!
